I am a Nail Tech starting out to build my clientele. My salon is paying me 50% commission and I supply my?

acrylic and liquid. They supply everything else like for manicures and pedicures and polish. Is this a good deal? The salon wanted to give me $8.00 an hour but I asked for commission instead. In the past 3 weeks that I have worked I have made less than $200 total. Did I make a mistake asking for commission? Would it be an inconvenience for me to ask the owner for hourly for a few months until business picks up? What would you do?I am a Nail Tech starting out to build my clientele. My salon is paying me 50% commission and I supply my?
Definitely salary first, then commission. You need a clientele to work only based off of commision. Being someone who was taking Esthetics, and a current Makeup Artist, I know how difficult it is to start out in this business.

Minimum wage here is $8.00 so it doesn't seem a lot to me, especially for someone who is certified, however depends on where you live. You can sit down and discuss it with the owner, just tell them you misjudged it, and find it would be easier right now to work from a salary base, rather then commission. Once you do get a good clientele going and establish that, you can switch back over to commission, where you can make a mint doing Nail Tech.

Good luck with your career!I am a Nail Tech starting out to build my clientele. My salon is paying me 50% commission and I supply my?
you should be making salery plus commission and your best bet is going to be booth rental that way you pay a flat rate to shop and the rest is yours to keep, you also get to name your days and time you work, this really the only way to go but for now commissiom is good until you build a clientel good luck on your new adventure

Will my low budget cemetery idea catch on? I supply the lots, shovels, wood and nails and my customers do?

the rest at a huge savings. The service will be conducted by a hologram of the funeral director and accompanied by a recorded program. Paper flowers will fill the room. Will my low budget cemetery idea catch on? I supply the lots, shovels, wood and nails and my customers do?
Well, ya got a problem here. I already have that market sewed up.

My low cost service, $29.95, is a top seller. Really very simple. I tie a gopher to each foot of the dearly departed and fire a warning shot. Will my low budget cemetery idea catch on? I supply the lots, shovels, wood and nails and my customers do?
What about a Drive-In funeral, where you drive up to the first vacant one-plot-fits-all space and simply slide the coffin off your back seat into the hole? If it's not big enough, you just ask the attendant to ';Supersize me';. You can pay the fee by credit card at the machine located at the exit barrier. A nice idea would be to incorporate an automated car-wash too .....
I like the idea, but what about just wood, gas and a match. Land is getting expensive these days. Or maybe 1/4 size lots to bury people standing up. Not much of an answer but I'm for it.
It depends on how much money people really save over the traditional funeral.

That and if the whole scheme is 100% lawful...
I love it!!! I'm not payin for the hologram though, I will just order a singing telegram for the eulogy.
I think it depends on who your customers are.
Great idea.

Do you offer a lay-away plan ?
Will I have to bury myself? You should install a cremation-o-matic too with a coin dispenser.
Nah there is nothing like the human touch
I don't know maybe, I don't see people that sad who would want to bury them themselves.
Not for me.

Maybe my cheapo friends.

I dont want to take up any space on earth when I'm dead.
lol

I want to do acrylic nails for money during school and the summer. but i dont know where to get the supplies.?

At Professional Beauty supply stores, these stores usually require a cosmetologist license. Sally's beauty supply might also sell acrylic supplies (open to public)

How much are the supplies for gel toes nails and where can I buy them? Online?

Yesterday I got my toenails done with the glitter gel toes and it seemed really easy. She had the gel stuff, and after she filed my nails a little she just poured the glitter on, shook off the extra, and then put my toenails underneath this light apppartus. WELL... I don't want to pay the 45 it costs everytime I want this done or the 20 to get them filled so I was wondering if it is harder than it looks or where I can buy these supplies so I can do my toenails myself?!?How much are the supplies for gel toes nails and where can I buy them? Visit www.gelousnails.com

The Website has a store and it offers a Uv Light and a gel color kit.

I beleive you can also buy glitter, If you don;t see it in the store, ask

  • I want to open a wholesale nail supply store?

I suppose you want to know how to open a nail supply store?

Do you mean Finger nails, or hardware nails?

Wholesale means warehouse price... so unless you're making the products yourself, you won't make any profits if you just buy warehouse priced items and sell them.

If you want to start your bussiness, you first need to have a bussiness plan. Google that up, there's pleanty of examples :P

Then you will need to rent out some space, take out a bussiness loan, and have a license. You will be paying alot of bills, so make sure you think this trough. If you make no profits from this job, then all that will come of it is bills to pay. Start out small and grow from there. Most small bussinesses don't make profit for about 4-5 years after they open the bussiness.

Get the word out before you open. Tell friends. Make fliers. Internet. Etc.

Really, this qestion would be easier to answer if I knew what the qestion was :DI want to open a wholesale nail supply store?
Good for you. But whats your damn question?I want to open a wholesale nail supply store?

    Acrylic Nail supplies?

I want to start doing my own acrylic nails.

i know how to do them...

    i watched youtube videos.

but i want to know what you need.

    why you need it

and where you can get it from [stores before websites please]

also if you HAVE to use it.

    like tips.. there a must

but disinfectant spray. you can just use hand sanitizer

thank you for your help...Acrylic Nail supplies?
you going to need, files, brushes, acrylic nail powder and bonding liquid, acid primer. and tips and super glue.. you can get all this stuff at SALLYSAcrylic Nail supplies?
well usually you get these products from beauty supply stores, lots of hair styliest go to get there hair products, and a lot of places sell hair products along with nails, waxing, other equipment.

but you need a licence to shop there

if u dont have one its hard to get nail stuff unless you know someone

and you would need the acrylic and brushes, tools for manicures
You should take an OPI course for this before you do this. Using hand sanitizer instead of disinfectant spray is not the right thing to do. There is a reason salons and professional nail techs use the products they use. I would try Sally Beauty supply to get your things. Its all together in one section.
dont use acrylic nails. they will damage the nails and have mold and nasty stuff like that come in and you can loose your nail.

Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?

So. I was at a beauty supply store and I saw a bottle of nail polish with a label proclaiming ';Vegan!'; Does nail polish normally contain animal products? I mean, I know some colorants such as carmine aren't vegan, but what exactly are the non-vegan ingredients in nail polish?Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?
Nail polish with a pearl look is likely not vegan because it is probably made of fish scales.Vegan nail polish at beauty supply store?
It probably means it hasn't been tested on animals, and doesn't contain ingredients tested on animals after a certain date, plus no animal ingredients like lanolin for example.
Lol what? Wow..... I'm a vegan and I think that is ridiculous

A nail supply , it means a finger nail?

Don't think so ... probably means nails that you use in construction.

  • Why is a good blood supply important for healthy nail growth?

as aboveWhy is a good blood supply important for healthy nail growth?
Blood is responsible for transporting substances around the body. Nails are largely made from the fibrous protein collagen. In order to make any protein the body needs the 'building blocks' of proteins - amino acids. These will be acquired from digested food, absorbed through the gut epithelium and transported to sites all over the body, where bodily cells construct the proteins needed. Why is a good blood supply important for healthy nail growth?
Good blood supply is essential for all growth and development and maintainance. Blood carries oxygen to organs and extremities (your hands, feet ). If oxgenated blood does not reach these areas, growth will cease and eventually areas that do not recieve it die.

How much should it cost to lay 600 sq ft of hardwood flooring. Labor only floor/nails supplied & floor prepped?

Average labor price I ve seen from Michigan to Maine will vary from 2.50$ to 3.50$ a s/f . So if you say 3$ a s/f your looking at 1800$ give of take.

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GLHow much should it cost to lay 600 sq ft of hardwood flooring. Labor only floor/nails supplied %26amp; floor prepped?
hardwood nailed or stapled down is around 3.00 SF so your looking at 1800.00 for installation. some installers like mine will give discounts to people that have floor prepped and ready when its time to install. Less for the installer and as busy as they are we appreciate the customer helping out.
provided that you'll consume all the materials and all you have to do is to pay for the labor then that would be an average labor price 2.00$ to 3.00$ per s/f .

What manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon?

I want to buy my own manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon.

The obvious would be a nail filer, top coat nail polish, clear nail polish, different nail polish of your own choice, nail polish remover...what else?

If you can suggest really good brands I would appreciate it!

I want a nice, clear and detailed answer on what supplies I need to bring there so that only my stuff is used thank you!

    I really want good answers!

I waWhat manicure supplies to bring to the nail salon?
There is no reason for you to do this as long as you go to a salon which has high standards when it comes to proper sanitation and disinfection. For example, nail files should never be used on more than one customer unless they can - and have been, disinfected. But, most files are disposable, thus they need to be discarded after each and every customer. The polish - both topcoat, and colored polishes do not harbor bacteria, so no need to worry about that. Nail polish remover is not necessary to bring with you since the tech will be using a fresh pad every time she uses it. They normally use acetone anyway, and not polish remover. My suggestion is to make sure you go to a salon that disinfects their implements, and uses only those on you. Avoid the chop shops that don't disinfect their implements, or who use files and sanding bands over, and over. That is how you will get an infection. But honestly?Go to a top notch, CLEAN salon and you really don't have to worry about it. Also, please consider this. Who is going to disinfect your things in between visits? You would have to disinfect each and every thing that came into contact with your nails and/or skin between visits. Having your own things to bring to a salon may sound like a good idea, but if you fail to disinfect properly, your tools won't be clean. And that can cause you just as many problems as them using dirty implements, or files on you. I hope this helps!

You need to find a whole sale where you can buy the items in bulk, or you need to contact the company directly for information on how to purchase in bulk to resell.I want to open a nail supply . Where i can get the all stuffs, thank you?
Speaking for myself, I would only carry product lines I thought were the best. CND, Tammy Taylor, possibly OPI. Art supplies are available in myriad forms, you have to have a feel for what sells in your area. Do they like hand painted art, rhinestones, decals, dangles??? For Top coat, you MUST carry Seche Vite, and Seche Base, Seche Prep and Seche Restore for that matter. Use search engines to surf the net and find where to get the best prices.

Here's the business side of your question:

(maybe you don't want to hear this!)

Most states require a license to perform personal services like this so you will need to go to the appropriate school and take a state test to be licensed. Talk with a councilor at a junior college in your area. It is a good place to start and they do not have a financial incentive to hook you into attending like a private cosmetology school would.

Study, learn and practice. Get your license and then work in someone else's shop to gain experience and clientele. When you have a good base of customers you can branch out on your own.

Now the ';where'; side of your question:

You will learn this and more in school and by finding out where your first employer buy their stuff. And there is always Sally's Beauty Supply located in about every city in the country

    Best wishes in your endeavor

hi, i want to do my own nails but i have no idea what the stuff is that i need. the lady that does my nails has gone away and i dont know what the stuff is that she uses. please could you tell me where to buy the acrylic nail stuff like the powder liquid things glitter for the tips etc. thanks. 10 points will be rewarded.Acrylic nails supplies question?
I do my own nails at home and I buy all of my supplies from Sally's Beauty supplies. I live in New York and all together for the clear acrylic and the glitter acrylic and the nail tips of course, I paid under $40.00. And I can do my nails over and over again. I just did mine last night, used the silver glitter acrylic came out awesome. Again I buy all of my supplies from Sally's.Acrylic nails supplies question?
Try Sally's Beauty supply. Good luck if you have never applied the acrylic on yourself. It takes a skilled trained hand to do it. You are better off getting them done somewhere else because the product and all the supplies you will need will be expensive. Its not that cheap to do it yourself. Believe me! Don't go to those cheap discount salons that you find on every street corner in your neighborhood, you'll get what you pay for and risk of infection!!! Go to a reputable salon, ask friends and family where they go they can refer you to someone. If you are a student, most salons will give you a studen discount. Good luck! I get my product from the supplier only because I am a licensed nail tech, but ask a Sally rep and they can tell you whats their best product.
you can buy nail packs at the shopping centre and chemist they usually have full artificial nails and glue, all u do is find the right size for your nail and glue it on then just cut it to the lenght that u want.

you can do a search that shows u how to apply them just type in artificial nails how to and there u will find heaps of links to show you how to apply them.

other nails such as gel tips you need a uv light and gel also glue to stick them on to then 1 coat of gel and put ya finger under the uv light then another coat then light then another coat so there's 3 layers of gel.

but for you the best would be the full lenght nails that u can get anywhere, instruction's will be inside.

    hope all this helps
I have bought every kit imaginable to do my own nails. And I must say the little bit of cash they want is worth it. I know your lady is gone,,but try another salon. Plus you are putting your nails at risk for fungus. Yes I did mine for awhile and it was very time consuming not to mention the lovely mess I made!! I am a self doer so this seemed to be a great idea! By the time I got to the point of polish I wish I had never started! If you are insitint on doing them, go to a salon and buy from them or as they all say, sally or wally world has all you need.

Usually, schools provide you with a kit with everything you need in it. It's included in your tuition fee. I'm not sure though, so try calling your school first to find out.

If they don't provide you with a kit, they should give you a list of things you need. I'd start shopping from there.I will be doing hair and nails what supplies should i buy for just starting?
My school is having us purchase a big kit with all the supplies we'll need- shears, clippers, mannequin heads, curling irons, straighteners, hair clips, and who knows what else. You should either be instructed to purchase a kit, or given a list of needed supplies by the school, as different institutions will require different supplies.

Nail Techs: Help! UV Gel Nail Supplies?

I have been getting UV gel French overlays for nearly a year now. But I am having a really hard time finding a tech who doesn't do a sloppy job. I live in a very large city and only go to very high-end salons with the highest client ratings. However, this hasn't prevented everything from too thick ';Chicklet'; style nails, or gel applied so that it pools around the cuticles. After going through a dozen nail techs and seven salons, I'm pretty frustrated. Really, I'm not a fussy person at all, but I know the overlays could be done better.

Several years ago I used to apply my own acrylic and silk overlays, using only the best products I could find and using the most careful methods for sanitation. I always got complements on my nails and people could not believe that they weren't my own or that I did them at home. I would go back to the acrylics, but I much prefer the UV gels for the lasting shine, flexibility and permanent French polish application. I also find they don't lift as much.

But of course, the crux is that I am not a licensed nail tech, and I don't know where I can buy supplies. I have watched the fill process so many times enough to know what Brisa supplies I need and that I need a good quality UV light (probably at least a 9 watt), and how long to cure between applications.

Is there somewhere that I am unaware of that sells these kinds of supplies to the general public? Can any of you pros out there offer any suggestions or guidance in this area?

Thank you all very much!Nail Techs: Help! UV Gel Nail Supplies?
I can offer on bit of advice - Brisa sukz. Go with LCN (#1 in my book), Young Nails, Akzentz, or Light Elegance. They are a step above the rest. CND's products are just OK. Nothing special. As for where to get the supplies without being licensed? Do your homework. There are online sites that are not too choosy about who they sell to. However, that eliminates most of the companies I just mentioned because those are much more difficult to purchase without proof of licensure. I would advise getting some training before attempting this on your own. Yes, it's possible to do on your own, but it will make it soooo much easier to have had formal training in UV gels. Watching it being done is a lot different from actually applying the nails yourself. It's been said that UV gel nails are easy to do, but very difficult to master. I can agree with that. Good luck.

Best brand for acrylic nail supplies? (for powder, etc.)?

..and where can I buy it?Best brand for acrylic nail supplies? (for powder, etc.)?
OPI is one of the best.

You can Google part of your question, acrylic nail supplies %26amp; get a bunch of online places to shop at.

    Advice: acrylic nail supplies.... (UK)?

Hi All, I'm learning to be a nail technician and it's my first time buying my own supplies (ie, not out of a training kit!). What are the best quality supplies to use to avoid lifting etc .. In particular liquid and powders. Thanks any advice welcome.Advice: acrylic nail supplies.... (UK)?
I'm a nail tech. I like a few different brands. Each has their own good and bad points. But, for the most part they are all good! Anyway, one of those are Young Nails. They are based in the U.S., but I believe they sell to the UK. Here is their web address:

    http://www.youngnails.com/

YN has excellent liquid %26amp; powder systems. They have a 'core,' and a 'speed' powder. It's different than most in that the set time with most acrylics determined by the monomer that you use. With Young Nails, it's the powder which determines the set time. The 'core' sets in 60 seconds, while the 'speed' sets in 90 seconds. Either way, they're fast! And, this company has tons of things like mylar, colored acrylic kits, glitter (individual and kits), and lots more. It really is a great company with really good professional nail products. They have a line of gels out too, but I don't care too much for them though a lot of techs swear by them.

Another is Entity Beauty. They have (had) these two famouse nail pros as their founders - Tom Holcomb and Tom Bachik. This company also has great products, though it is a little on the expensive side. Not too bad though. Their 'shiner' is definitely the very best high gloss shiner I have ever used. Oh, of course their acrylic products are also excellent. They also make a #8 oval ';Studio'; brush whci is also the very best, IMO. You can find them here:

    http://www.entitybeauty.com

There are others, such as CND which I hear is big in the UK. But, even though I have been a CND Grand Master tech for a number of years now, I think their acrylics have a tendency to create 'pocket' lifting. That's not a good thing!!!

Anyway, I do hope I've been helpful. And best of luck to you in your nail studies!!!

  • Do you have to be a licensed professional to buy from nail supply stores?

I was wondering because lately I have been doing my own nails with a kit from the drug store. The only thing is that they lift pretty fast, and I know of a nail store on the island (I'm from Hawaii), but I didn't want to go in and have them deny me. I figured the stuff sold in there is probably better. So is it just to the licensed professionals, or to us people who just want to do it themselves? Thanks!!!Do you have to be a licensed professional to buy from nail supply stores?
coming from a professional nail tech.....yes you do have to have a license to go into some of the nail supply stores that sell wholesale, but there are places that i know of here where i am that as long as you have your student license then you can purchase items(mostly sally's though) so if you are not willing to go to a professional nail tech or go to school to become licensed then i suggest you stick with the kits you get from the drug storeDo you have to be a licensed professional to buy from nail supply stores?
I don't think it would matter if you were licensed or not.

Because at a hair salon you can walk in and buy their products without having to be a qualified hairdresser. So I see no problem in it.

I'm fairly positive that you could buy it.

What would you need to open a Nail salon?

Besides the obvious nail license but is there anything else that you woul need????What would you need to open a Nail salon?
First of all you actually won't need a nail license if you are not doing nails. But if you want to do nails you will need to complete ur state's board of cosmetology class depending on what state you live in it will take 6mos to complete nail school. After completing the class you pay a test fee. Some schools pay for the first test. Second you apply for a business license, your shop also has to meet the state's requirement for sanitation and handicap accessibility. I live in TN so the laws are kinda strict here. Anyway, you will need nail salon equipment and it's expensive google websites like tngworldwide, opi, cnd, young nail, and the supernailstore. You can get deals on equipment there. Advertising is another key factor in success. Or you can pay rent to an owner on a building space and fill it. It's not only profitable but fun. What would you need to open a Nail salon?
ya you will need staff and things like nail cutter and some hot water buckets a feet massage and you will need to put every staff to his good abilty like (mary nail cutter),(judy manicure )

I am VERY good at doing manicures %26amp; nails. What supplies do I need? %26amp; Where can I get them? It would be best if I could most of them at walmart..

Also, with the cost of the supplies, about how much should I charge?

shouldnt you know what supplies you'd need?

make a master list of stuff you want to get and compare prices with local beauty shops that sell the serious nail stuff you'd need, not just super glue and fake nails to glue on, and compare your list with say, walmart or something\

good luckI'm wanting to open up a nail shop. What supplies do I need?
Erm...For one, You need a Nail Tech license before you even touch a client.. For two, People aren't going to want to get their nails done by someone who uses cheap product. It's going to cost more than $200 to open up a Nail salon. You need Business license, and a Nail Tech license, along with all the equipment. You also need to be up to date, and have somewhere to put your salon.

Check with your town office, and your state board. They will help you with everything you need to know and get.
I'd say charge cheap, but not too cheap. Maybe around 拢15 or $15, you could do deals like have a card and then whenever the person comes and gets there nails done, stamp it or put a sticker on it say like 3 pedicures/manicures whatever and then when it's full, they get a free airspray tan or like 拢8/$8 off there next pedicure/manicure.

You will need stuff like this:

    Acrylics

    Natural Nail Manicures

    Wraps and Fibreglass Nails

    Gels

    Nail Art

    Airbrush Nails

    Nail Jewelry

    Pedicures

Waxing [ Would possibly get more customers. ]

Airbrush Tanning [ Would possibly get more customers. ]

Services for Male Clients [ Would possibly get more customers. ]

    Nail Parties

Make sure you have a few assistants who are good at other stuff then nails, possibly family members. Maybe look around for apprentices, or people who have qualified and finished there beautician course.

Flyers, and ads in the newspapers. Ads in local shops, make sure you put your most good and cheap deals on there. This will attract customers.

http://www.idonails.com/shop/specials.ph鈥?/a> %26lt;- Most supply's are on this site, so you can write down what you'd need from there and have a look round walmart. Make sure the products you get from walmart are in good quality, if not. This will put more and more customers off, they want to be paying for good quality products. Not something they could do themselves at home.

Make your Nail salon look nice, with colourful posters, and make it basically look attractive. Have good furniture, and have very clean working areas. This will attract customers. A uniform is always good, it can be just a plain white top with a black cardigan, or a white cardigan with black trousers [ Nothing fancy is needed. ]

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produc鈥?/a> %26lt;- Possibly have wooden flooring. Or tiles

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produc鈥?/a> %26lt;- Stuff to hold magazines, nail magazines and newspapers. Keep the client busy while your dealing with someone else.

    http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/produc鈥?/a> %26lt;- Basic seating.

The supply's are endless, but do not even have to be top designer stuff.

Make sure your shop gets around, like get your family members/friends to spread the word. Possibly do there nails, and then ask them to recommend them to their friends/family.

How do you investigate a nail salon to see if they are properly disinfecting their supplies?

Almost every time I get a pedicure, one of my toes becomes red on one side and painful. How do I get them investigated or checked out to make sure they are properly sanitizing and disinfecting all their equipment between each client? How do you investigate a nail salon to see if they are properly disinfecting their supplies?
The BBB has absolutely no regulatory powers. Conducting investigations of this kind is not what they do. And, they are not a government agency, so they cannot do much at all for you in terms of legal action and investigations. To file a complaint about a nail salon, you have to go through your state's regulatory board - usually the Board of Cosmetology, or a name very similar to that. Here is a list of all 50 states, and the contact information for each state's board. Look up your state, find the contact information, and contact them. They are the people that you want to talk to, not the BBB. State boards handle complaints, and investigate them as well. They can take legal action against a salon if it is warranted. The boards have that legal authority to do this. The BBB does not have the authority to take any direct legal action against anyone because they are not a state, or federal agency. They are a private entity.

i had that problem once i don't think they really clean their supplies good but i stated somewhere else doesn't that go against health guidelines find out how many complaints to the bbb if too many they will automaticly have them ionvestigated!!

great source for beginners. their rhinestones aren't the greatest of quality, though. i get mine on ebay, and they're usually labeled as 'korean rhinestones'. they aren't as sparkly as swarovski crystals, but they're much better than other acrylic gems.

for stripers, those bottles of colored polish that have long thin brushes used for creating lines, i find that a lot of cheap mom-and-pop owned beauty supply stores (not like a sally's) have them for only 2-3 bucks each. you shouldn't have to pay more than that for them.

also, acrylic craft paint is PERFECT for nail art. it's water-based, so if you make a mistake you can just wipe it off before it dries. use a tiny paintbrush or even a toothpick to draw designs with them. they're only like 45 cents or so per color at walmart. just remember to seal the art with a layer of topcoat.
